NBA Vault: A Manifesto

The idea for this blog is simple: to create an NBA website the breathes new life into the ‘blog era’ of basketball writing. With the rise in social media platforms like Instagram and Tiktok sports content leans more and more towards the lowest common denominator. Often times content is more focused maintaining engagement rather than deepening our love and understanding of basketball. The conversations about the NBA’s top 75 list this past season were a perfect example of this. My Instagram discover page was flooded with content that merely just said ‘AD doesn’t deserve to be on the list’ and gave no explanation of why or what metrics we should use to determine what makes someone worthy of being on the top 75 list. And look, I get it, bold claims like that beg people to run to the comment section to state their reasons why they agree/disagree and boom the post gets engagement. Boom the shitty instagram account grows its followers. Maybe I am naive but I believe that a silent majority exists somewhere out there begging for in-depth analysis, begging for creators to stop creating with the algorithm at the top of their mind. I miss when the Internet was not yet dominated by the major social media companies and there were tons of small little basketball blogs to discover. NBA Vault will be a place to find streamlined NBA content for the love of the game and not for the thrill of the click. I will focus on three main areas: fantasy basketball, Xs and Os analysis and curating my favorites oddities whether it be old clips or cool little stats. I hope you enjoy!
